Tonsillitis is a common condition that causes a sore throat. The tonsils are located at the back of the throat and are meant to help the body defend against bacteria and viruses by capturing those entering the body. However, when the tonsils get recurrent infections, they can be removed without negatively impacting the immune system.
Symptoms of Tonsillitis:
Severe sore throat, temperature, difficulty in swallowing, yellow exudate on tonsils, fever, chills, and earache.
When to See an ENT Consultant:
Severe or persistent symptoms:
Frequent bouts of tonsillitis may require a tonsillectomy (surgical removal) as the most feasible option. (Please see QR code)
