What are salivary glands?

Amongst the salivary glands are numerous little glands that produce nearly 2-3 litres of saliva, also known as spit, daily in the mouth and throat. There are also three major pairs of salivary glands:

Parotid glands: These are the biggest, positioned in front of your ears.

Submandibular glands: These are found near the bottom of your jaw on either side.

Sublingual glands: These are the smallest pair found under your tongue
