Diagnostic Nasoendoscopy – Detailed Examination of the Nasal Passages and Throat

Diagnostic nasoendoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a thin, flexible camera (endoscope) to visually examine the nasal passages, sinuses, throat, and voice box (larynx). It provides valuable insights into a range of ENT conditions that can’t be seen with a regular physical exam.

When is it needed?

Nasoendoscopy is often recommended if you experience:

  • Persistent nasal blockage or congestion

  • Chronic sinus infections

  • Nosebleeds (epistaxis)

  • Throat pain or hoarseness

  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing

  • Suspected nasal polyps, tumours, or structural abnormalities

The procedure

Performed in the clinic, nasoendoscopy involves gently inserting a flexible endoscope through the nose. The camera transmits live images to a monitor, allowing the ENT specialist to carefully assess the lining of the nasal passages, sinus openings, and throat. The procedure is quick, usually lasting 5-10 minutes, and causes minimal discomfort.

Benefits

  • Accurate diagnosis of nasal and throat conditions

  • Enables targeted biopsies if needed

  • Guides appropriate treatment planning
