Neck Lump Excision – Accurate Diagnosis and Safe Removal

Neck lump excision is a surgical procedure to remove abnormal swellings in the neck for diagnosis and treatment. Neck lumps can result from enlarged lymph nodes, benign cysts, salivary gland swellings, thyroid nodules, or, rarely, cancer

When is it needed?

Your ENT surgeon, Mr Adeel, may recommend neck lump excision if you have:

  • A lump that is persistent or enlarging

  • Associated symptoms such as pain, difficulty swallowing, voice changes, or weight loss

  • Suspicious findings on ultrasound, CT, MRI, or biopsy

  • Cosmetic concerns or discomfort from the lump

The procedure

Performed under local or general anaesthesia, a small incision is made over the lump for precise removal. The sample is sent to the laboratory for histopathology to confirm the diagnosis. Care is taken to preserve surrounding nerves, blood vessels, and structures.

Benefits

  • Definitive diagnosis of the lump

  • Relief from discomfort or swelling

  • Removal of potentially harmful growths

Recovery

Most patients go home the same day. Stitches are usually removed after 5–7 days, and most people return to normal activities within a week.

Mr Adeel provides expert neck lump excision with meticulous surgical technique and thorough follow-up care.
